The Latest Judgement in Computers & Internet:
Barry draws
Barry believes... the internet is developing too fast and the Microsofts, Googles, Ebays, etc should be forced to pause their helter-skelter innovations and to make much greater efforts to increase security and ways of catching hackers and fraudsters.

Computers & Internet
David thinks... It is utterly irritating when you want to purchase something online and the site insists you set up an account to do so. I JUST WANT TO BUY SOMETHING!
David wins
David decrees... AVG (from grisoft) is THE only decent anti-virus software out there! I've tried Norton and McAfee and both gave me prblems and then nightmares when I contacted their dreadful technical 'support'. AVG is simple to install, simple to use.
I'd avoid Norton like the plague. Dreadful customer services and overly crap updateing system. AVG wins hands down - I shall not look anywhere else ever again! Yes, they make me that happy!
PS No, I do not work for them, nor am I affiliated in any way
Matola wins
Matola reckons... that wireless internet is bad for your health
I reckon in 10 yrs time studies will be done showing that the waves fry your brain....
Graham wins
Graham states... Broadband providers should be forced by law to quote accurate average speeds on their advertising
My mate in Sidmouth has an "8Mb" BT connection that never gives him more than 1Mb. Even in london I only get 6Mb max despite living 100 yards from the exchange. I can't imagine anyone would get much better than this.
Graham wins
Graham thinks... Computers have got so fast and so cheap that there's no point upgrading
Unless you're a hardcore gamer or have some other reason for a super fast CPU there is no point updating any more. Most people I know use their PC for internet access and word processing, even the slowest processors currently available are under-challenged by that.
Colin wins
Colin decrees... Windows XP is better than Vista
Not that Vista is bad, it just doesn't add anything to what XP did. It consumes more RAM but doesn't allow me to do anything faster, better or more interestingly that I could with XP. I just reckon Microsoft felt it was about time they trawled out a new OS with a bit of transparency and animation like Apple's OS
David wins
David predicts... Windows Vista will be the last ground up creation of a general public operating system.
They cost an absolute fortune and the current trend seems to favour server side applications
Barry wins
Barry insists... Most computer/software guides are written in geek language. Anyone who produces guides that can be understood by reasonably intelligent people over the age of 65 could make a fortune.
