DeGirl wins

DeGirl thinks... Fractal Patterns (when you ignore all the boring maths) are incredibly beautiful.

Shame they're not around so much nowadays. Heyday in the 90's.

dewolfe wins

dewolfe believes... That if Marc Quinn thinks Kate Moss is the 'Ideal Beauty' of our time, then he must be blind.

Though she's not facially unattractive, a skinny, coke snorting, smoking, binge drinker is not my ideal beauty (of any time!). To each their own I know, but to immortalise her in a £1.5 million gold statue is going a bit far.

Colin wins

Colin is convinced... that Damien Hurst must be laughing his cock off right now

all those millions for a few pickled fish. Are people insane? Who want's half a cow in their house unless it's on a plate done medium rare in a red wine jus with green beans and saute potatoes? I've got a jar of soused herrings in the cupboard, who'll open the bidding at £500,000?

neverwrong believes... The most inspiring artist of all time is SALVADOR DALI

Surrealism is much more interesting than just a painting of a flower in a vase!

steve wins

steve reckons... Tracey Emin's art is just not very good

Don't get me wrong, I love modern art but I just think her work is just very poor indeed. She creates the sort of things you would expect a degree student to produce for their final year project. It's not rubbish but just not very good.

Colin wins

Colin reckons... that art is any creative process that inspires thought

There always been the whole "that's art" / "you can't call that art" debate. Art means different things to different people. Although I think Tracy Emin's 'tent' and 'unmade bed' were basically junk, and Damien Hurst's formaldehyde dissections were really just biology class specimens, I would still class them as art. Why? Because they didn't just 'happen' (as my unmade bed did), they came into being as part of a creative process, and they instigate thought processes in the onlooker. In the same way I would class Battersea Power Station, Brighton Pier and The Supermarine Spitfire as art.

PrettyPolly wins

PrettyPolly reckons... Most of the fantasy books published are formulaic. The same things happen time after time after time.

The main character always is or very quickly becomes an orphan. They have no idea of their powers. They have to go on a long treacherous journey to defeat the bad guy. And they always gather a group of people around them to help them on their journey. Please, someone, write something original!

BusyBee wins

BusyBee believes... That the death of Fred in the final Harry Potter was totally unnecessary.

Why did Fred have to die? It wasn't a large part of the story. We already knew that Voldemort and his Death Eaters were bad people - they had already killed lots of people. It seemed totally unnecessary and added nothing. Just a death for the sake of a death.
